Ever heard of Sealand? Very cool, and kinda surreal, this micronation leans heavily upon Descartes' philosophy of "Cogito, ergo sum." - ("I think, therefore I am."). The Principality of Sealand, founded in 1967 by Paddy Roy Bates (now "Prince Roy"), on an abandoned WWII offshore platform in the North Sea six miles off the coast of England. The sheer audacity of this guy, who has essentially declared, "My nation exists because I say so." is what impresses me the most.
